Caravans with Single Beds

If you’re looking for a caravan with single beds, you might have noticed that there aren’t quite as many options as you’d expect.

So in this post I’m going to feature 18 caravans with single-bed options, ranging from compact pop-tops to off-road full caravans with bunks, and even one designed with your dog in mind.

These aren’t necessarily the best caravans, and they’re not ranked in any particular order. They’re just some options I found while searching through the Australian RV Directory.

I initially did all this research for some video’s I created, so if you’d rather see all these caravans in a video (with a lot more photos) you can watch them here:

Let’s get into it.

Jayco Starcraft Pop Top 13.42-4

We’ll start with the Jayco Starcraft Pop Top 13.42-4.

This is a pretty straightforward, traditional caravan design. You’ve got your beds, your kitchen, your little ensuite, and that’s about it. Nothing particularly fancy, but everything has a purpose.

The beds double as your seating area, so you’re not using up valuable floor space on a separate lounge.

And tucked into the corner is a combined shower and toilet, with a fold-down hand basin.

It’s an Australian-made pop-top, with a tare weight of 1,500 kilos and an overall length of 5.94 metres.

If you’re after a compact caravan with the essentials covered, this is a good place to start.

EzyTrail Campers Winton 13 MK2

Next up is the EzyTrail Winton 13 MK2, which is a little shorter at 5.4 metres, with a tare weight of just 1,285 kilos.

But the interesting thing about this one is that you’re not locked into a single bed arrangement.

The U-shaped dinette can be converted into twin single beds, an east-west double, or even a north-south king bed.

And if you choose the east-west double, you can still retain some seating space.

So you have a bit of flexibility here, depending on how you prefer to sleep and use your caravan during the day.

There’s also a combined shower and toilet tucked into the corner.

That’s a fair bit of choice packed into quite a small caravan.

Tare: 1285kg
ATM: 1600kg
Total Length: 5.4m

Century Caravans Venus 13

The Century Venus 13 is another compact caravan with a layout that’s very similar to the first two we’ve looked at.

And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. When you’re trying to fit a bed, kitchen, seating and bathroom into a space this small, there aren’t endless ways to arrange everything.

But Century has made one interesting change: they’ve enlarged the ensuite.

The manufacturer describes it as coming very close to a full separate shower and toilet configuration.

So if bathroom space is high on your priority list, that’s worth taking a closer look.

It’s another option for people who want a small caravan without giving up the convenience of an onboard bathroom.

ATM: 1900kg
Total Length: 5.61m
Travel Height: 2.94m

Fantasy Caravan Nano Hound Hauler

Now, this one is a little different.

The Fantasy Nano Hound Hauler is designed specifically for people travelling with a dog.

And I wanted to include it because, rather than simply squeezing a dog bed into whatever space is left over, this design actually allocates a decent amount of room to your four-legged travelling companion.

Now, a quick clarification: the layout I’m featuring here has one single bed, rather than two separate single beds. But there is also a couples layout with an east-west bed available.

So it’s not quite the same sleeping arrangement as the other caravans on this list, but I thought the design was interesting enough to include.

If your dog is an important part of your travel plans, they’ll want you to have a look at this one.

Silversun Caravans Saturn

The Silversun Saturn is particularly interesting because it solves one of the problems we’ve seen with several of the smaller layouts.

In many compact caravans, the beds double as the seating area. That’s a sensible use of space, but it does mean your daytime living area is tied to your bed configuration.

The Saturn does things differently.

You’ve got the single beds, but there’s also separate bench seating opposite the kitchen.

So you don’t have to rely on your beds for all your sitting around, having a cuppa and relaxing.

And it has a separate shower and toilet, rather than combining the two into one small ensuite.

It’s Australian made, and if you value having a more clearly defined living area and bathroom, the extra space might be worth considering.

Cub Campers Wollemi All Road

Next is the Cub Wollemi All Road, which takes us into hybrid caravan territory.

This is an off-road model, built in Australia, with a tare weight of 1,500 kilos and an ATM of 2,100 kilos.

It’s also one of the shorter options on our list, at 5.682 metres overall.

I couldn’t find photos of the single-bed configuration, but the floor plans do show that a single-bed option is available.

And, as you might have noticed by now, the general layout is quite similar to several of the caravans we’ve already seen.

Again, that’s partly the nature of designing a compact caravan. You need somewhere to sleep, somewhere to cook, somewhere to sit, and somewhere to wash.

The Wollemi is worth a look if you’re after that compact footprint with an off-road hybrid design.

Cub Campers Wollemi All Road

Crusader Caravans CRV Esperance 12’10

The Crusader CRV Esperance 12’10 is another Australian-made option, measuring 5.74 metres overall.

And yes, the layout is very similar to some of the other compact caravans we’ve looked at.

But if you’re shopping around, that’s actually a useful reminder: similar floor plans don’t necessarily mean the caravans are identical in their construction, equipment or standard inclusions.

So once you’ve found a layout that works for you, it’s worth comparing the details rather than choosing purely on the floor plan.

The Esperance is another one to add to your shortlist if you want a compact caravan with a single-bed layout.

Crusader Caravans CRV Esperance 12’10
Tare: 1481kg
ATM: 2200kg

Centaur Caravans Karavané

The Centaur Karavan is the longest caravan on our list, at just under seven metres overall.

But what makes it interesting is the way you can choose between four different layouts.

You can have a double bed or single beds, and you can choose between a separate shower and toilet or a layout with bunks.

So there are a few different configurations to consider, depending on how you want to use the space.

Something else that sets this caravan apart is its construction. It uses a one-piece, twin-skin moulded fibreglass front, roof and back.

I couldn’t find a price to include here, so you’ll need to contact Centaur for current pricing.

If you want a little more length and the ability to choose a layout that suits your needs, this one’s worth investigating.

Austrack Campers Talawana 11LT Hybrid Offroad Lite Camper

This is another compact off-road hybrid, with a pop-top roof and a small but well-equipped kitchen.

The bathroom is a combined shower and toilet, tucked into the corner, much like several of the other caravans on our list.

So if you’re looking for a compact hybrid with an off-road focus, this is another one to put on your list.

Silversun Caravans Shockwave

Next is another one from Silversun Caravans.

I’m a bit frustrated that I couldn’t find a floorplan showing the single-bed layout to show you.

But the manufacturer does offer single beds as an option, and there are photos showing what that looks like.

So, if you’re interested in this van, you’ll probably want to contact Silversun to confirm exactly how that layout is configured.

It’s Australian made, and it’s a good example of why I like looking beyond the standard floorplans. Sometimes the layout you’re after is available, even if it’s not the one the manufacturer puts front and centre.

Silversun Caravans Shockwave
Tare: 1750kg
ATM: 2650kg
Total Length: 6.6m
Travel Height: 3m
Price from: $93,990

Crusader Caravans CRV Gladiator Familia 17’2

Next is the Crusader Gladiator Familia.

What I like about this layout is that it gives you two single beds at the front, but you can convert them into a large queen if you’d prefer to sleep that way.

And there’s more to it than that, because this one also has bunks.

So, if you’re travelling with the kids or grandkids, you’ve got the flexibility of single beds for the adults, bunks for the younger travellers, and a combined shower and toilet ensuite.

It’s Australian made, too.

I think this is an interesting option for people who want single beds but don’t necessarily want to limit themselves to a couples-only caravan.

Cub Campers H16

The Cub H16 is a bit different from the conventional caravan layouts we’ve looked at so far.

It’s a hybrid caravan with a pop-top roof, measuring 7.15 metres long and 2.52 metres high when travelling.

You can get this one with single beds and a separate shower and toilet.

Alternatively, there’s a layout with bunk beds across the rear and a combined shower and toilet.

So, depending on which configuration you choose, you’re making a slightly different compromise between sleeping arrangements and bathroom facilities.

And because it’s a hybrid with a pop-top, it has a different feel from a full-height caravan.

Tare: 1844kg
ATM: 2800kg
Total Length: 7.15m
Travel Height: 2.52m

Southern Cross Caravans SCF13 – 13ft Pardoo Single beds

Now for something a little more compact.

This is the Southern Cross SCF13 Pardoo, a 13-foot off-road caravan with single beds.

Prices start at $64,990, making it one of the more affordable options in this group.

The bathroom is a combined shower and toilet, so you’re not getting separate facilities here.

But that’s one of the trade-offs with smaller caravans. You can save space and keep the overall layout compact, but you may need to be a little more flexible about how you use the bathroom.

If you want single beds, a bathroom and off-road capability without going to a really long caravan, this is one worth investigating.

ATM: 2800kg
Total Length: 6.45m
Travel Height: 3m

Arctic Campers Glacier 14 TS

The Arctic Campers Glacier 14 TS is another compact option, with a pop-top roof.

In this layout the single beds also serve as the dining area.

That can be a really efficient use of space, because you don’t need a separate dinette taking up room in the caravan.

The downside, of course, is that if you want to use the beds for sleeping, you can’t necessarily leave everything set up as a bed and still have a separate place to sit and eat.

In these photos you can see a north-south queen-bed arrangement. But in that configuration, there’s nowhere to sit, so that’s something to think about if you’re comparing the different layouts.

On the plus side, this one has a separate shower and toilet, which is a great feature in a relatively compact van.

Arctic Campers Glacier 14 TS
Tare: 2195kg
ATM: 2990kg
Total Length: 6.5m
Travel Height: 2.67m
Price from: $60,990

Maverick Campers Cobra 16HLS

The Maverick Campers Cobra 16HLS takes a slightly different approach to the space-saving problem.

Unlike the Arctic, the beds aren’t used as the dining area. There’s a separate bench seat, so you have somewhere to sit without having to turn your beds into a lounge every time you want a meal.

It also has a separate shower and toilet, an external slide-out kitchen and a pop-top roof.

And I think the separate seating is worth paying attention to here. Single beds can be a clever way to save space, but having somewhere else to sit means you don’t have to compromise quite as much on how you use the beds.

Maverick Campers Cobra 16HLS
Tare: 2334kg
ATM: 3000kg
Total Length: 7.547m
Travel Height: 2.702m

SUV Caravans Island 15 SB

The SUV Caravans Island 15 SB has a very similar approach to the Maverick Cobra.

You’ve got single beds, a separate bench seat for dining, a separate shower and toilet, and an external slide-out kitchen.

So, in terms of the basic layout, there’s quite a bit of overlap with the Maverick.

The Island is shorter overall, which could be worth considering if you’re trying to keep the length of your setup down.

And this was the one exception to my off-road observation. Most of the other caravans in this list are off-road models or have an off-road option, whereas the SUV Island isn’t one I’d group with those on that basis.

It’s a useful reminder that even when you’re searching for something quite specific, like a bigger caravan with single beds, you can end up with different priorities and capabilities in the final shortlist.

SUV Caravans Island 15 SB
Tare: 2380kg
ATM: 3000kg
Total Length: 6.3m
Travel Height: 3.01m

Torus RV 18ft6 Kakadu Single Beds

At the other end of the list, we have the Torus RV 18ft6 Kakadu.

This is the largest caravan in our selection, both in length and weight.

It’s also a dual-axle caravan, unlike most of the others we’ve looked at.

One feature that stands out is the large dining area. You don’t have to use the beds as your dining space, so the sleeping and living areas have a clearer separation.

It also has a separate shower and toilet.

Of course, at this size and weight, you’ll need to pay close attention to your tow vehicle’s ratings and the weights of your actual loaded caravan.

But if you’re after a larger layout with single beds, a proper dining area and separate bathroom facilities, this is the biggest option in our group.

Tare: 2700kg
ATM: 3500kg
Total Length: 8.225m
Travel Height: 3.16m

North Coast Offroad RVs X.15

Finally, we have the North Coast Offroad RVs X.15.

This is a dual-axle hybrid camper with a pop-top roof.

Just a note on the weights here: the manufacturer lists GVM rather than ATM, so check the manufacturer’s specifications to confirm the relevant ratings and how they apply to your towing setup.

The X.15 has single beds, with the option of adding bunks if you need extra sleeping capacity.

It also has a combined shower and toilet.

So, despite being a hybrid camper rather than a conventional full-height caravan, it still gives you a bathroom and the flexibility to accommodate more people.

And that low travel height is worth noticing if you’re comparing it with some of the taller vans in this list.

North Coast Offroad RVs X.15
Tare: 1850kg
GVM: 2500kg
Total Length: 7m
Travel Height: 2.15m
https://www.offroadrvs.com.au/x15-offroad-camper-hybrid/

So, those are caravans with single beds and bathrooms (which also had photos so I could show you rather than just talking about them!).

One thing I noticed while researching these is just how many different ways manufacturers use the space.

Some have single beds that double as seating. Others give you a separate dining area. Some have a combined shower and toilet, while others manage to fit in separate facilities. And a few give you the option of adding bunks as well.

There were also quite a few other caravans I could have included, particularly dual-axle models. But in many cases, the manufacturers show the queen bed layout without providing photos of the single-bed version, which makes it a little difficult to feature them properly in a post.

And if you’d like to compare more caravans by weight, length, price, layout and features, you can find the Australian RV Directory linked below.
